Be it business, sartorial expertise or innovation in design the Fashion Design Council of India has taken Indian fashion to the global market-place. Established in 1998, FDCI has been a facilitator and catalyst for the advancement of the Indian fashion industry. FDCI is the only cohesive body, which promotes the interest of the designers, textile and accessories manufacturers, models, makeup artists, hair stylists and choreographers. The council also fosters the growth of the industry in collaboration with agencies in the Government and outside.
The forthcoming edition of India's greatest fashion platform celebrates the 10th edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week. In addition to promoting the B2B fashion trade in India, FDCI also organizes seminars, training on entrepreneurial development and fashion merchandising, among many others. Through its talent hunt, it has launched models and designers who have taken the domestic and international market by storm.
Over the years FDCI has achieved several milestones - it has promoted Pret-a-Porter (Ready-to-Wear) and Diffusion (a line between ready-to-wear and trousseau/couture) markets, made fashion week a bi-annual event, moved across borders and collaborated with Fashion Pakistan. Today, this apex organization represents the interests of around 200 designers - nurturing and consolidating them in India and in global fashion events.
The FDCI acts as a central node facilitating interaction and the flow of information. It works at creating mutually beneficial tie-ups with similar Councils in international fashion destinations as also business worldwide. This has resulted in increased international recognition and space for Indian designer wear in stores across USA, Europe, UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, the UAE & many other countries.
With the unwavering support of its members and patrons, the FDCI is confident of taking giant strides towards furthering it's main goal - the Business of Fashion.
